About Hail and its timings
Hail is the capital of its province and is tied in Arab memory to Hatim al-Ta'i, the byword for generosity. It lies on the old Darb Zubaydah pilgrim road from Kufa, whose stations still survive nearby. Mountains surround it, as do the rock carvings of Jubbah and Shuwaymis, listed as World Heritage.
Hail is among the Kingdom's northern cities, so the gap between summer and winter days is wider than in Makkah, and its winters can turn frosty.
