About Muscat and its timings
Muscat is a chain of districts separated by the rock walls of the Hajar mountains, which makes it a long coastal city rather than a single mass by geography alone. It kept building codes that cap heights and control colour, so its skyline stays low and white unlike its neighbours. Its position by the Strait of Hormuz gave it an early maritime history still visible in the forts overlooking the harbour.
Muscat lies at the far east of its time zone, so its Fajr is among the earliest in the Gulf and Maghrib sounds roughly twenty minutes before Dubai.
