About Khartoum and its timings
Khartoum stands where the White Nile meets the Blue Nile, and that confluence made it a river junction long before it was a capital. It is really three adjoining cities divided by water and joined by bridges: Khartoum, Bahri and Omdurman. Its hot desert climate and near-tropical latitude put the sun almost overhead at midday in summer, so the Dhuhr shadow shrinks to very little.
At about fifteen degrees north the day length stays fairly steady all year, with less than ninety minutes between summer and winter.
