بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ

In the Name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful.

1. The Striking Calamity - 2. What is the Striking Calamity? 3. And what can make you know what is the Striking Calamity? 4. It is the Day when people will be like moths, dispersed, 5. And the mountains will be like wool, fluffed up. 6. Then as for one whose scales are heavy [with good deeds], 7. He will be in a pleasant life. 8. But as for one whose scales are light, 9. His refuge will be an abyss. 10. And what can make you know what that is? 11. It is a Fire, intensely hot.

Surah Al-Qari'ah (The Calamity) is chapter 101 of the Quran and has 11 verses, making it a short surah. It was revealed in Mecca, before the migration to Medina, and it is number 30 in the chronological order of revelation. It falls in juz 30. It is preceded by Surah Al-'Adiyat and followed by Surah At-Takathur. Like every surah except At-Tawbah, it opens with the Basmalah. This surah contains no verse of prostration.
