About Tunis and its timings
Tunis lies between a shallow lagoon and the sea, growing in Carthage's shadow before inheriting its role as the country's capital. Its medina centres on the Zaytuna Mosque, a university before it was a monument, which trained scholars across the Muslim west for centuries. The modern avenue running from Bab el Bhar means the walk from Hafsid to European architecture takes only a few steps.
Tunis sits on a low coastal lagoon, and its seasonal swing is moderate: about fourteen hours of summer daylight against ten in winter.
